Stop Being Creepy

Unlike traditional cameras, wearable AI is often discreet or covert. This makes “informed consent” impossible, as bystanders are often unaware they are being documented. Consent cannot be presumed simply because a device is worn in public; it must be explicitly granted.

In many settings—such as professional meetings, gyms, or private businesses—there is a reasonable expectation of privacy. Constant, ambient recording risks the inadvertent capture of my private conversations, financial information, or personal movements, creating an intrusive surveillance environment that I find unacceptable.

Most AI glasses transmit data to cloud servers (e.g., Meta, Google) for processing. Once my image or voice is uploaded, I lose control over how that data is used, whether it is used to train AI models, or if it becomes vulnerable to data breaches and hacking.

Many AI wearables do more than just film; they analyze “face geometry” and voiceprints. Unlike a password, biometric data cannot be changed if it is leaked or misused. I do not consent to my unique biological identifiers being captured, indexed, or stored in any database.

If we are in a public or private space, I encourage you to be present and to be engaged with me and the world around you; not dependent on technology, wearables, or AI. I understand that wearables that assist those individuals who have disabilities that prevent full participation is a necessary exception.
